Cascade Township Park is a great park for kids. It has a great playground and a large splash pad for summer fun. The 18-hole disc golf course is challenging and has a lot of trees.

Playground
Cascade Township Park is a little bit of a drive from downtown Grand Rapids, but the colorful playground and green space are worth the trip. This park features a popular disc golf course, a spacious dog park, and a large modern playground that’s full of twists and turns for kids to explore.
This unique playground includes a giant blue and orange “swirly twirly” tube slide, swings (including some double swings for parents), a four-person seesaw, and a unique rock arch to climb on all over wood chip surfaces. There’s also a picnic shelter, a merry-go-round, and public restrooms nearby.
The township’s new parks master plan includes goals and objectives to make the edges of the parks more permeable to non-motorized pathways. Cascade Township’s Parks and Recreation Committee and planning staff worked with community members to develop the plan.
Disc Golf Course
Disc golf is a game that anyone can play. Whether it’s throwing in tournaments or just playing casually with friends, Grand Rapids has a vibrant community of players. The city’s many courses offer a variety of challenging holes, ranging from short to long.
The course at Cascade Township Park is challenging but beginner-friendly, with some mild elevation changes and some obstacles to test your accuracy. However, the dirt pads can be slick and there is no signage to help find your way to the next hole.

Dog Park
Located between the soccer and baseball fields, this dog park has a huge pooch playground inside it. There are hoops to jump through, ramps to run up and down, and other cool equipment. You can also find benches and some shade to relax in. The park also has Mutt Mitt dispensers and lots of waste stations to help keep things clean.
This dog park is smaller than some of the others in the area but that means it’s less crowded. It has a separate small and large dog section and a running fountain that is nice for hot days.
There is a small sledding hill in this park that is great for toddlers. If you have kids, be sure to bring some sleds and blankets.
Picnic Areas
The picnic areas here are open all year round, making them great for a day with the whole family. Kids will love the playground and sandbox, while adults can take advantage of the paved walking trails, disc golf course, and sports facilities.
There are also baseball/softball fields, a soccer field, tennis courts, a cricket pitch, and a scenic open picnic shelter available for rental. The park also offers a one-mile trail, a sledding hill in the winter, and a public restroom.
A functional piece of art, the Fish Ladder is located within the park. This bridge is designed to help fish navigate the man-made rapids of the Grand River during their seasonal migration. This attraction is free for the public to enjoy.
Trails
Cascade Township Park is home to a number of paved trails for cycling, walking, running, and in-line skating. The trails are well-maintained and provide a scenic outdoor adventure for the entire family.
The main trail loop is about 2 miles long, with lots of offshoots to keep you busy. It’s also a great place to see the fall colors.
Located in the northern portion of Cascade Township, this park includes two baseball/softball diamonds, a soccer field, a basketball court, a tennis court, and a sand volleyball court. It is also home to the Leslie E. Tassell Park.
