Millennium Park

Whether it’s relaxing at the 6-acre beach around the man-made lake, riding bikes on a flat paved trail, or taking on one of the park’s 18 miles of trails, Millennium Park has something for everyone.

The Beach

A beach on a 100-acre lake, splash pad, park playgrounds, boat rentals, and more – Millennium Park has it all. This is one of the best spots for outdoor recreation in Kent County.

Runners love this spot for its flat paths with a mix of pavement and concrete. Try out this lollipop-style loop run from the main parking area:

Hikers can enjoy the paved and natural surface trails throughout the 1,400 acres of Millennium Park. For a challenge, try hiking the deep-lake trail near Kalamazoo for a fun and exhilarating hike. You’ll see amazing ponds and possibly even some deer along the way. Fishing is a quintessential Michigan pastime, and the Millennium Park trail network has plenty of access points for you to cast a line.

The Meadows

The park offers a variety of hiking and biking trails, ranging from gentle, rolling hills to scenic lake and riverfront views. About 18 miles of paved trails weave throughout Millennium Park, which includes wetlands, forests, meadows, and a recreation area with a beach and splashpad. The Millennium Trail Network is also a gateway to the Fred Meijer Standale and Kent Trails.

Families with children will enjoy exploring the Hansen Nature Trail, which is plowed in winter for those who want to see how beautiful snow can be. The full-size basketball court on the northwest end of the main recreation area is a perfect spot for a friendly game with friends or family. Two sand volleyball courts are available in the recreation area as well. Here is another spot to visit.

The Boathouse

Millennium Park is a favorite family destination for many reasons. It features a 6-acre beach, boat rentals, more than a dozen miles of trails and so much more.

The park also has a number of unique habitats like forests, open fields, and wetlands. And with a whopping 18 miles of interconnected trails, this is one park that you can explore year-round!

All trails are stroller friendly and many of them are paved. In the winter months, you can still hike Millennium Park’s plowed trails by using snowshoes or cross-country skiing.

The Sculpture Garden

The Sculpture Garden at Millennium Park Walker MI is a stunning location for those looking to explore the arts. This beautiful area of the park features a large collection of sculptures that are set amongst lush landscapes, creating a harmonious interplay between art and nature.

The beach at Millennium Park has a 100-acre lake, making it a nice alternative to traveling all the way to Lake Michigan. It’s a great place to relax and soak up the sun, or take a swim in cool waters.

The Millennium Red Trail is an easy hike that gives visitors scenic vistas. It’s also a good place to spot wildlife, especially turtles and birds. This is a family-friendly hike, but elderly hikers or those in wheelchairs may need assistance. Up next is Johnson Park.
